What’s Holding Back Your Business?

Combine two magic words to unlock more business.

At some point in their careers, every agent out there will ask themselves this all-important question: “Why am I not getting more business?” Today I want to approach this topic from a slightly different angle than what you might be used to.

Recently, I listened to a podcast episode by John Maxwell titled “The Leader’s Gift: Part I.” In it, Maxwell touched on two critical things: commitment and passion. His thought-provoking suggestion was that we as professionals owe it to ourselves to combine the two into a more meaningful phrase: “passionate commitment.”

Sometimes, we can lose ourselves in tasks, accountability, and scheduling. However, the deeper meaning behind why we do what we do has little to do with systems and processes—those are “how” components. Truly, at the core of our businesses, there needs to be a passionate commitment to our clients and our cause.

At the core of our businesses, there needs to be a passionate commitment to our clients and our cause.

So, if you find yourself wondering why you’re not where you want to be, take a good, hard look at your purpose and passion—your fundamental “why” components. Are you getting up every day with fire in your belly to go out and do what you’re most convicted to do? Are you serving those you feel called to serve? If you’ve lost that fire and can’t find it, it may be time to reevaluate your big “why.”

Not sure what that is? If you’ve ever been through one of our programs, I promise you that we were asked to write it out at some point. Go back in your journals and meditate on it! Trust me, you won’t regret it. Perhaps you’ll rediscover your fire and embrace tomorrow with more vigor than you’ve had in a long time.

For further inspiration, I encourage you to go listen to John Maxwell’s podcast. Please feel free to reach out to us via phone or email if you have any questions or comments about what passionate commitment looks like. We’d love to hear from you!
