Using the StoryBrand framework to clarify your marketing message.

Getting the word out about what we do is a challenge we all face, no matter the business we’re in. When you’re in real estate, many people think you just sell houses. This is true, but in the world of senior real estate, it’s so much more involved than that.

So, how do you show people what you do and demonstrate that you’re truly different? Today I’ll share a tool that can help you get clarity about your marketing message.

The book is titled “Building a StoryBrand: Clarify Your Message So Customers Will Listen” by Donald Miller. In addition to the book, you can also visit www.MyStoryBrand.com, and set up a free account for access to what is called a “brand script.”

“We can help clients become the heroes of their own stories.”

In the service industry, we sometimes think we’re the hero in the client’s story. We ride in on a white horse, give them a plan, and save the day. The reality is that we’re not the heroes in our clients’ stories—they are. What Donald Miller and his team so beautifully laid out is how we, as Certified Senior Housing Professionals, can help our clients see themselves as heroes.  To do that, we have to help them form a plan and avoid obstacles; we’re simply guides, educators, and advocates along the way.

If you haven’t read Miller’s book or visited the StoryBrand website, I strongly encourage you to do so. While we provide you with a lot of the information you will need in our courses at SREI, it’s always helpful to gain outside perspective as you are clarifying or expanding your brand. The StoryBrand framework will help you take the challenges your clients face, as well as what you’re going to do to help them, and craft your message.

If you have questions about today’s topic or anything else to do with senior real estate, don’t hesitate to give my team a call or send us an email. We’d love to hear from you.
