Maintain Client Trust by Securing Home Access

In this video, we discuss the importance of ensuring homes are
secure when working with mature homeowners (all homeowners!).

In the realm of real estate, the trust of our clients is paramount. As Certified Senior Housing Professionals®, our responsibilities extend far beyond just the transaction itself. We are entrusted with the care and security of our clients’ properties, which means taking every precaution to protect their homes while ensuring convenient access when needed.

One critical aspect of this responsibility is how we manage property access. Some may be tempted to take shortcuts, like leaving keys under doormats, beneath potted plants, or discreetly hidden on porches. However, it’s important to emphasize that such practices can jeopardize the security of the property and undermine the trust we’ve built with our clients.

To truly excel in our roles, we must prioritize secure methods of granting access. There are two primary options we can consider: combination lockboxes available at local home improvement stores like Lowe’s or Home Depot, or those issued by the associations of REALTORS®.

Combination Lockboxes:

These lockboxes are readily available and offer a convenient way to securely store keys or access cards. They come with customizable combinations, providing a secure method for authorized individuals to access the property. By using them, we not only enhance security but also demonstrate professionalism to our clients.

REALTOR-Issued Lockboxes:

Lockboxes provided by realtor associations often come with added security features, such as digital access logs and restricted entry times. These can be especially beneficial in scenarios where you need to tightly control property access, but they can also be great for when you are serving as the HUB for the client, providing access to vendors like estate liquidators, contractors, housekeepers, etc.

While it may be tempting to resort to less secure methods for property access, it’s our duty as Certified Senior Housing Professionals to prioritize the safety and security of our clients’ homes. By using secure lockbox solutions, we can maintain their trust, uphold professional standards, and safeguard their valuable investments.

Remember, in real estate, trust is everything. Let’s continue to go above and beyond in securing our clients’ homes, providing them with peace of mind, and reinforcing our commitment to their well-being.

Thank you for your dedication to professionalism and client care.
