    1. List at least 3 things you learned from the course materials (text, articles, group session, etc.) this week as it pertains to being a senior downsizing coach:

#1 I was amazed to read the statistic in the supplemental reading that “It is estimated that an American adult makes 35,000 decisions a day.” (Sollisch,2016), this is so important to remember. Meet people where they are at. Realizing sometimes the client may not even realize where they are at in a process.
#2 I can’t coach someone who is in crisis.
#3 In the article The Gerontologist: Counselor and Coach I appreciated the line that said Coaching is not about fixing – coaching is about creating.
#4 I also like the cornerstones in the Co-Active Coaching book. #1 People are naturally creative, resourceful & whole. #2 Focus on the whole person. #3 Dance in this moment. #4 Evoke transformation. The relationship between coach and coachee is a living breathing commitment to work in collaboration to support the coachee’s desired outcomes.

    2. Describe a scenario whereby you were able to implement something you learned: I practiced in multiple conversations to observe my listening level. Becoming aware of the 3 levels was enlightening and I was amazed how often I found myself in level 1 listening.

    3. What challenges did you experience as you considered or attempted approaching conversations from a coaching perspective? I think eliminating my agenda or what I may think the answer is for someone without getting to know their unique circumstances.

    4. What successes did you experience using your new coaching skills/understanding? I think heightened awareness is what I experienced with the teachings from this weeks lessons.

    5. List any topics, concerns, or issues you would like to discuss with your coach either in an upcoming session or in a private conversation/email:
I currently don’t have any topics, concerns or issues to discuss. I thoroughly enjoyed the additional reading that complimented week 1 lessons.
